The health benefits of drinking tea are many!
Attendees at the ARTclectic Afternoon Tea on Saturday, February 25th enjoyed a sumptious tea spread and learned about the many health benefits of drinking tea.
Susan Schlechter, the former owner of the Tea Parlor, spoke to the assembled group and took questions as well.
This is what we learned about tea:
- Antioxidant properties: Tea is rich in antioxidants called catechins and flavonoids, which can help protect your body from damage caused by free radicals.
- Reduced risk of chronic diseases: Some studies suggest that regular tea consumption may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer.
- Improved brain function: Tea contains caffeine, which can help improve brain function, including alertness, memory, and mood.
- Hydration: Drinking tea can help keep you hydrated, which is important for maintaining overall health and preventing dehydration.
- Stress relief: Tea contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which has been shown to promote relaxation and reduce stress.
- Improved digestion: Certain types of tea, such as ginger and peppermint tea, may help improve digestion and alleviate digestive issues such as nausea and bloating.
- Reduced inflammation: Some studies suggest that tea may help reduce inflammation in the body, which is a contributing factor to many chronic diseases.
Overall, drinking tea can be a healthy and enjoyable way to improve your health and well-being.
