ARTclectic's John Leon Builds Incredible Bronze Sculpture!

Petra

ARTclectic Gallery artist, John Leon, created a massive 25-foot bronze sculpture that was donated to the town of Polson, Montana!

Commissioned by a private citizen as a gift to the town, the sculpture pays tribute to the legendary 'Flathead Lake Monster,' affectionately known as 'Petra,' reportedly been sighted over 100 times, going back to the early times of the Kutenai native American tribe.

John Leon sculpted a creature that perfectly balances mystery and charm, crafting a friendly, mythical figure that captures the imagination of all ages, inviting the community to embrace the wonder and folklore of the lake "monster".

Leon meticulously brought this sculpture to life over the course of nearly two years. Beginning with detailed proposal designs, he moved through the stages of model-making and scaling the figure in clay to its full size. From there, the process included mold-making, bronze casting, crating, shipping, and preparing the site for installation. Expertly cast in bronze by Casting Arts & Technology in Cincinnati, every step was executed with precision and care.

A wonderful selection of John Leon's sculptures (that fit on a table top) are available for sale at ARTclectic Gallery, where you can view them in person or online.
